Obituary:
Janet Elaine Tomlinson, of Exeter, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2020 at the age of 81. She was born November 10, 1938 in Visalia, California to Charlie and Eva Coulter. She was raised on her parent’s citrus farm near Lindcove along with her older sister, Marilyn and younger brother, Larry. Janet graduated from Exeter Union High School where she met her future husband, Phil Tomlinson. They were married in 1955 and celebrated 50 years together before his death in 2006. Janet and Phil had three children, David, Cheri and Gail. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and career employee with State Employment Development Department. She enjoyed all family activities including water skiing, bowling, fishing, horseshoes and attending her children and grandchildren’s sports and other activities. Some of her fondest memories were times spent at the Coulter cabin in Wilsonia and family camping vacations, including camping with the Bricker family at Shaver Lake and several Easter vacations spent at the “exotic” Salton Sea. Most vacations included enduring one of Phil’s “short cuts” to a “hot fishing spot” that rarely panned out. Although she is now with Jesus and we will see her again, Janet will be dearly missed and always in our hearts. Janet is survived by her son David and wife Nancy, daughters, Cheri and husband Darrel, Gail and husband Eugene. She was a loving grandma to seven grandchildren: Kris and wife Katie, Kelly and husband Blake, Matthew, Jonathan and wife Emily, Andrew and wife Cassie, Katie and husband Jerry, and Marie. She was a proud great grandma of three: Benjamin, Thomas and Wesley. She is also survived by her brother Larry Coulter, brothers-in-law Bob Bricker, Gene Tomlinson and sister-in-law Marjorie Cruz. A private service will be held at the Exeter District Cemetery. In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansmillerguinnchapel.com. Services entrusted to Evans Miller Guinn Chapel.

I am so sorry to hear about Janets passing. Her and Phil were such good neighbors to us. Phil always referred to them as the neighbors to the south. Will always have special memories of the get togethers for the deep pit (turkeys) for Thanksgiving.
