Obituary:
Zeta Irene Ewing
Born April 29, 1929, at Welling, Oklahoma, to Edgar Sweet and Helen Taylor.
Passed away May 24, 2021, at Visalia, California. She was 92 years old.
She had eight siblings: Evelyn, Ima Jean, Jack, Linda, J.E., Frank, Sherry and Mickey; and three step siblings Violet, Bill and Betty.
She lost her mother Helen at a young age and being the oldest at 16 years old she assumed the role of helping to raise her siblings.
She was baptized at Henryetta, OK on August 19, 1945
She was married to Clifford Beavers on Sept 24, 1946 at Reno, Nevada. Zeta and Clifford enjoyed courting each other and had a happy life raising their three boys for the next eight years: Gary, Jerry and Morris.
She had nine Grandchildren: Crystal, Cliff, Kimberly, Shawndon, Ashley, Heath, Tabitha, Heather, Joshua; and eight great grandchildren.
Zeta’s daughters in laws were LaDonna (Gary) and Gail (Jerry).
She lost her husband Clifford on July 29, 1954 at 27 years old. Being only 25 years old herself, she started raising her boys alone.
Even though she didn’t have a lot of financial means she always opened her home to the brethren. She took her sons to church and raised them to serve the Lord.
On July 31, 1976, Zeta married Ray Ewing, where she was welcomed into the Ewing family by his four daughters: Debi Ewing of Houston, Texas; Pam Overacker (Ron) of Visalia; Sonya Ewing of Visalia; and Alesia Snyder (Rex) of Morgantown, Indiana; as well as his parents, Otis and Maude Ewing, and his siblings, W.L. Ewing, Gladys Works and Teanea Ewing.
Zeta and Ray shared a special love for each other. Their happiness radiated. They enjoyed many adventures; traveling, camping and visiting many of their loved ones and friends. On March 14, 1986, Ray passed away.
Zeta was a precious friend and Mom to Ray’s girls and they all loved her. She was an example of what God intended a women to be. Her love and kindness was an inspiration to all. She will be greatly missed. We will cherish all the wonderful memories of her.
Seven more grandchildren were added to Ray and Zeta: Melanie Gutierrez to Debi; Ronnie, Jeff and Marcus Overacker to Pam; Chris Overacker to Sonya; Rex Snyder and Carissa Long to Alesia; and 13 great grandchildren. They all knew and loved her as “Grandma Zeta”.
Zeta’s whole family would like to thank all who helped her through her final days.
