Obituary:
On Thursday, March 2, 2023, Gloyd Welch Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family by his side and a heart full of love at 88 years of age. Born on August 7, 1934 to his mother Elizabeth Ann Welch and father Festus Welch. Gloyd met his wife, Wanda Welch in Olivehurts, CA. They were together for 57 years. Gloyd was an exceptional individual with an unconditional love for family and friends. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. He would never hesitate to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and would always have perfect advice for any situation you needed help with. Gloyd loved to wake up early and drive to the lake as the sun peaked over the surrounding hills and treetops so he could fish during sunrise when fish were most likely to bite. When asked why he would wake up so early to go fishing he would say something along the lines of “Well, I need all of the help I can get.” Gloyd loved dogs, fishing, taking strolls around the neighborhood, socializing with people as he met them, watching old western movies, eating Twinkies, taking naps, and most of all, his family and friends. There was nothing that could keep Gloyd down as he was always happy and always hard at work. In his younger years, Gloyd was a Shuffleboard Champion and loved playing cards. Most people who know Gloyd know him as “Buster” or “Uncle Buck”. To this day, we are unaware of how he got the nickname “Buster”. He was predeceased by his Wife, Wanda Welch and is survived by his two sons, Gloyd Jr. and Floyd, and his two daughters, Belinda and Darlene
