Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Three Rivers Community Presbyterian Church, 43410 Seirra Drive in Three Rivers. Burial will be in the Three Rivers Cemetery.

Obituary:
James A. Perry (Jim) passed away peacefully Monday, December 1, 2010, at the age of 84 at his home in Three Rivers, CA surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1926 to Eugene J. and Ella M. Perry. At the age of two, Jim and his family relocated to Los Angeles, CA. While attending high school Jim worked for CBS as an usher for the early radio programs. After graduating from high school a the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served on Guam. Upon discharge from the Navy, Jim graduated from George Pepperdine College. He then worked at the Automobile Club of Southern California, where in 1950 he met his future wife, Nellie (Johnson). Jim and Nell were married in 1954. Jim then enrolled at the University of Southern California where he received his teaching credential and master’s degree. While attending USC, Jim also worked at Rheingold Brewery in Los Angeles. Jim began his teaching career with the Los Angeles City School District. He then moved to the Torrance Unified School District and completed his teaching at the Southern California Regional Occupational Center. Upon his retirement in 1984, Jim and Nell moved to Three Rivers, where they have made their home for the last 26 years.
Jim was known by all for his quiet, giving nature, to his family he always will be remembered as a gentle giant and for the wonderful way he decorated Christmas trees. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene J. and Ella M. Perry; his brother, Eugene W. Perry; and his daughter, Marianne Perry. He is remembered with love and affection by his wife of 56 years, Nell; son, Steven Perry of Three Rivers, CA; granddaughter Sirelle Bachman of Garden Grove, CA; granddaughter, Janell Hulse of Lemoore, CA; and many nephews and nieces and their children.
The family wishes to thank many for the loving care given Jim during his illness: David Bryson, M.D. and staff; Angela Pap, M.D.; Kelly and Patricia of the Kaweah Delta Infusion Center; Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital staff; Admitting staff; Emergency Room Staff; the nurses and aides of 3South and 4South; the wonderful caregivers of Kaweah Delta Hospice and all the family and friends who provided wonderful meals and loving support.

When I think of Jim my first memory is of him teaching me to polka. Jim, like his mom had a great gentle laugh and was always so kind. He will be missed. As my only "Oestreich" cousin there was a connection through a past I wish I knew more about. Rest in peace dearest Jim.
