Obituary:
Vesta Leona Curtis
August 1, 1922 - January 6, 2013

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Vesta Leona Curtis went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 6, 2013. She had celebrated her 90th birthday in August with most of her family present.
Vesta was born in Gardiner, Maine where she grew up and raised her family. When their children moved to California, mom and dad followed in 1964 and lived in Southern California for many years. She worked as a Cashier/Clerk at the Friedman DDS in Los Angeles for over 20 years. Mom and Dad retired in 1985 and moved to Visalia, CA to be near their 4 children.
Vesta enjoyed attending church which included Visalia First Assembly, Gateway Church, and various churches in the area where she loved to sing. She sang with the Senior Group in Visalia a number of years as well as the Bible Breakfast Club and nursing homes. Music was a vital part of her life. When unable to attend church she enjoyed watching Christian evangelists and music on television. Up until the age of 85 she worked part time for the Central Valley Regional Center’s Foster Grandparent Program since she could no longer drive.
Vesta was married to Edwin Curtis, Sr. for 53 years before his passing in 1992. The couple enjoyed fishing, traveling in their motorhome, and going to grandchildren’s sport events. Hobbies included crocheting, knitting, sewing, embroidering, baking , cooking, and attending gospel sings at various churches.
Survivors include her children, Edwin Curtis, Jr. (Judy), Gene Curtis (Sheila), David Curtis (Victoria), Priscilla Drain-Skaalen (Cliff), all of Visalia; Shirley Burdzell (Norman), Augusta, ME; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; also survived by 2 siblings; sister, Nell Glidden, Tennessee, and brother, Benjamin Dill, Maine

Sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I pray the words of the Apostle Paul in I Thessalonians 4:13-18 will be an encouragement and comfort to you. As Christians we don't say good bye to our loved ones but see you later. May all the good memories of her life bring a smile amidst the tears. May the Holy Spirit comfort you and turn your sorrow into joy. Our love and prayers. Clarence & Deborah Thompson

I had the priviledge of working with Vesta at OTP where she was a voluteer grandmother. She had a great spirit and told great stories. She loved all of you, her family so very much and took great pride in sharing your accomplishments. She will be missed, but what a legacy to you all. Terri Hiltel
