Obituary:
Effie “Marie” Anderson went to be with the Lord on Mother's Day, May 8, 2016, two days shy of her 90th birthday, surrounded by her family.
Marie was born May 10, 1926 to Hogan and Mae Guinn in Paden, OK. She was the fourth child of six siblings. She attended school in Paden, OK and graduated from Paden High School in 1944. Shortly after graduation, her family settled in Farmersville, CA where she met the love of her life, Nelson Anderson. They were married him on June 1, 1947. Together they had three sons, tried once more for a daughter, and had twin boys! She worked for 42 years at Exeter Citrus Packing House as an orange packer. After retiring from the packing house in 1988, she helped raise her youngest six grandsons until finally retiring for good in 2006. It was such a huge accomplishment in the lives of her grandchildren when they were finally "taller than Granny" - who stood a whopping 5 feet when she breathed deep! She loved taking care of others and had a true servant's heart. A woman of boundless energy, she was a hard worker and seldom sat still. She was a founding member of Calvary Worship Center and served as a Sunday School teacher, bus ministry worker, deacon's wife, singer, cook, youth ministry chaperone and prayer warrior. She was an adored mother, mother-in-law, granny, sister and Aunt Ree - a great woman of faith, an amazing example of a Proverbs 31 woman, and a sincere friend to all she met.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Nelson Anderson, her parents, Hogan and Mae Guinn, her sisters, Mildred Guinn and Bonnie Wood and brothers, Paul and Austin Guinn. She is survived by her five sons, Terry (Barbara) Anderson, Allen (Paula) Anderson, Paul (Judy) Anderson, Daniel (Karen) Anderson and David (Tina) Anderson, one sister, Velma (JW) Kemp, 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be at Calvary Worship Center, 3890 S. Lovers Lane, Visalia, CA on Friday, May 13th, at 6:00pm
"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband, also, and he praises her. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:28-31
