Obituary:
Helen Dorothy Plunkett (Kay) passed away March 13, 2017 in Visalia, California at the age of 100. Kay was born in Savana, Illinois on January 27, 1917 to Martin and Mary Kreijcier who had emigrated from Czechoslovakia. Kay was the youngest of their 10 children. The family eventually moved to Wadsworth, Ohio where Kay graduated high school. She married Merrill Plunkett and the couple settled in Alhambra and Southgate, California, eventually moving to Covina. They had two children, Barbara and John. Kay was a supervisor in the Los Angeles welfare department for 10 years. In the mid 1970’s Kay and Merrill stopped in Three Rivers while on a trip and decided that, when they retired, they would move there. Merrill passed away shortly after they moved to Three Rivers. Kay continued to reside there until early 2016 when she moved into an assisted living facility in Visalia. In Three Rivers she was an active member of St. Clair Altar Society and sang in the St. Clair church choir over 40 years until her move to Visalia. She was also an avid fisherman and a member for many years of the Lady Anglers. Her other involvements in Three Rivers were: working at the golf course and the Indian restaurant; serving as a member of Three Rivers Woman’s Club and participating in musical productions in the community. One of her favorite pastimes was playing bridge with her many friends.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Barbara Bleile; her nephews Marty Zvada(wife Margaret); Pat Zvada and Tim Zvada (wife Sandy); eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son.
