Obituary:
Russell Roger Ezell was born December 15, 1924 in Scranton, AK to Linda Grist and David Christopher Ezell who preceded him in death. Russell passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 7:00 PM, with his family by his side, at his home in Atascadero, CA. He has lived the last 7 years in Atascadero, CA
He has two siblings sister Pat Brown of Scranton, AK and Brother Cecil Marshall of Ft Smith, AK.
He married Madge Mae (Cain) Ezell on July 9, 1949 and spent 71 happy years together. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, he loved fishing, hunting, camping, but most of all he loved spending quality time with his family, he cherished his two sons Dean and Dave.
He is survived by his wife Madge Ezell, his son and family Harold Dean Ezell, Granddaughter Cassie and Husband Chad, Great grandchildren Janesyn and Jett; his son and family David Ezell and wife Elaine Granddaughter Colette, Grandchildren Drew, Christine and Kylie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and in laws, along with many friends that also call him Pops or Dad.
He served in the United State Army as a Staff Sgt. during WWII from January 1943- 1946 where he was awarded many medals and service bars while he served in France, Rhineland in Germany and the European theater. He worked for Southern California Edison as a mechanic for 34 years, retiring in 1984. In the early years before entering the Army, he worked in the coal mines in AK. He was employed in explosives. He was a man that affected many lives. Everyone that met him loved him. He was a man that was a father to many and always made you feel welcome. He was a Hero to many.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Evans Miller Guinn Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Exeter District Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansmillerguinnchapel.com.
