Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm at Evans Miller Guinn Exeter Chapel. A Graveside service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm located at Exeter District Cemetery.
Obituary:
Kenneth Ray Mathis passed away November 26th, 2020 at home, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 70 years old. He was born in Exeter, CA July 1st, 1950.
Ken is predeceased by his Mother Wilma Zola Mathis of Missouri, his father William Eugene Mathis of Arkansas, and his brother Ron Mathis of Visalia, CA.
Lovingly remembered by his sisters Penny Stites and Kimberly Libla and brother Larry Mathis of Visalia, CA, his daughters Julie Contreras and Stacy Mathis of Visalia CA, his granddaughters Jasmine Pickett, Jasmine Vaca, Daisy Vaca, Amber Rose, and Misty Johnston of Visalia, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ken was a devoted father and grandfather with his first love being Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. He received the call to preach in the 1970’s and was ordained to preach in 1978 at Demaree Free Will Baptist Church. He attended California Christian College in Fresno, CA and Liberty University Correspondence School of Lynchburg Virginia to further his education in the ministry. He pastored at American Free Will Baptist Church in Selma, CA, Corcoran Free Will Baptist Church in Corcoran, CA, and Exeter Free Will Baptist Church in Exeter, CA. In his latter years he worked as security for On Site Security in Visalia, CA. Aside from sharing the gospel with people he enjoyed reading, traveling, exploring nature, and spending time with his loved ones. He was also a devoted Green Bay Packer fan and had a huge heart for animals, especially dogs.
He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
A viewing will be held Wednesday December 9th, 2020 from 2pm-6pm at Evans Miller Guinn Chapel in Exeter, CA. Graveside service will be held Thursday December 10th, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Exeter District Cemetery.
