Obituary:
Ricky (Rick) Lane Woods, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, in Exeter, California while surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald (Ronnie) Woods and sister, Rachelle (Shelly) Nestved. Rick was born on January 16, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA to H.C. and Charlene Woods. Rick grew up in Oxnard, CA where he attended Hueneme High School. He was working at Eddie’s Billard Hall in 1974 when his brother, Ronnie, introduced him to Jeanette and he would spend the rest of his life loving her. Rick and Jeanette were married on February 23, 1981. In 1984, they moved to Exeter, CA where they would build a life together and raise their kids. Rick was a true “jack of all trades”. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and he served as the community handyman for decades. This job would introduce him to an incredible amount of friends within the community. Rick is survived by his large loving family: wife of 41 years, Jeanette Woods (Myska). Six children: Laurie Hall (Donald) of Idaho, Steven Woods of Virginia, Chris Woods of Idaho, Jennifer Watkins (Kevin) of Exeter, Tim Woods of Tennessee, and Raymond Woods (Skye) of Exeter. His 16 grandchildren: Nick Hall, Christiana, Katelyn Lopez, Noah Hall (Quincey), Doug, Abigail, Madison Willis (Robert), Emily, Sydney, Ash, Grace, Jonah Hall, Timmy, Sebastian, Cassidy and Conor. 3 great-grandsons: Maverick, Waylon and Atlas. He is also dearly missed by his brother in law, Reinhold Nestved of Oxnard, niece Melissa Burchmore and nephew, Tyler Nestved as well as his parents and brother, Bryce Platt of Boston. Rick kept himself plenty busy helping anybody he could within the community, but with any free time he had he was dreaming of the mountains. He loved fishing and anything that got him in the great outdoors. He was passionate and knowledgeable about history and could educate you on every battle of the Civil War. You rarely would see him without a measuring tape clipped to his jeans, in his plaid shirts, with a Bluetooth speaker in his hand. His eclectic music taste ranged from classic rock to Celtic to Opera. Rick touched many lives and had such a friendly and caring heart to go along with his ornery streak. He will be greatly missed by so very many. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life in his honor at 1pm on Friday February 25, 2022 at the Exeter Women’s Club. (201 Kaweah Avenue, Exeter, CA 93221) The family would also like to extend a thank you to the Roger S. Good cancer treatment center and the incredible nurses who cared for Rick with such passion, as well as the Bristol Hospice Care who provided comfort and peace in the final months. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Rick’s name to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansmillerguinnchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to Evans Miller Guinn Chapel.
