Obituary:
Louvina Bailey Taylor Box was born in Caraway, Arkansas February 12, 1929, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 and entered eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 17, 2022, surrounded by family members in her home in Exeter, CA. Louvina was the 14th child born to Elvie Earmon Bailey and Rebecca Brown Bailey. Her mother Rebecca passed away a month after Louvina’s birth. Elvie later married Gertrude “Gertie” Lacy, and they had six children together giving Louvina a total of nineteen siblings all together. All 19 siblings preceded Louvina in death including her mother Rebecca and her father Elvie. “Vene” as she was affectionately known to friends and family migrated with family to California at the age of 16 and that is where she met her first husband Alvin Taylor and was married until Alvin’s death. Together they had a son named Gene Taylor. She then met and married Raymond Box who had a daughter Annette from a previous marriage who Vene helped raise and later they had a son together Allen Box. Vene retired from Early Best packing house where she spent 17 years as a grader. Prior to Early Best from a very young age Vene was a hard worker and did whatever it took to provide for her family. She worked hard her whole life doing farm work, picking cotton, grapes, and picking fruit from a very young age. She did house cleaning jobs for hotels and for personal homes for families for years. She had many accomplishments as a mother, a home maker, a grandma, and as a strong working independent woman. She was one of the first volunteers at the Exeter Food closet and volunteered there for over 10 years until her health declined. She really enjoyed working at the Exeter Food closet and the friends she had there. She loved gardening and did her own yard work mowing, edging, watering, trimming her trees, and weeding up until her late 80’s. Vene was always very active and would walk all over Exeter up into her late 80’s. She loved spending time with her friends and family. Vene is preceded in death by her first husband Alvin Taylor and second husband Raymond Box. Vene is survived by her two sons Gene Taylor and wife Patti, Allen Box, and daughter Annette Box. She is survived by two grandsons Brad Taylor and wife Trudy, and Jonathan Taylor. She is survived by two great-granddaughters Kiara Ragsdale Castaneda and husband Ryan, Kassidy Taylor and one great-grandson Kendrick Ragsdale. Vene has two great-great-granddaughters Kamelia and Kaeda Castaneda and numerous nieces and nephews so many to mention. There were many extended family and friends that called Louvina “Vene”, “mom” and “Grandma” that she loved so much and loved spending time with. A special thanks to Jerry and Gloria Walton who she was very close too. She was a second mother to Jerry and a best friend to Gloria. They were very special to her. She and Gloria became friends while they worked together, and she had many adventures with them both. She was a faithful church member for 51 years at the Church of God-Cleveland TN that is in Exeter, CA. She took the best care of everything she had. Her yard, flowers, home, and truck were always immaculate. With everything so well taken care of she made everything last. Vene is also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Zora Bailey Brown, Roy Bailey, Estie May Bailey, Lora Bailey Pearson, Doy Bailey, Truman Bailey, Truda Bailey Simpson, Eula Mary Bailey, Bula Mae Bailey, Emmet “Elmo” Bailey, Arnel Bailey, Daisy Bailey Grimsley, Elvie “Peck” Bailey II, Jimmie Bailey, Marion Bailey, Raymond “Ray” Bailey, Ina “Kay” Bailey, Lela Mae Bailey, and James “Ju Babe” Bailey. Services are entrusted with Evans Miller Guinn Exeter Chapel and the Graveside service will be July 26th at 10:00AM at the Exeter Cemetery officiated by Vene’s nephew John Wayne Grimsley and grandson Pastor Brad Taylor. There will be a lunch and refreshments for friends and family to come together and continue the celebration of Vene’s life at the Church of God 200 South G St. Exeter, CA immediately following the Graveside service.
