Visitation Information:
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 2/21/2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm followed by a rosary at 6:00 pm at the chapel. Mass will be said on Thursday, 2/22/2024 at 9 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Exeter. Burial will follow at the Exeter District Cemetery.

Obituary:
Maria del Refugio Cortes resided in Exeter, CA. and born in Tepatitlán, Jalisco has transitioned peacefully on Thursday morning surrounded by her loving family.
“Cuca”, as she was affectionately known, was born in Fatima, a small town near Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mx. on February 19th., 1953 to Amelia and Vicente Galindo. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, kind heart, soul and warrior spirit.
Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family and friends best describe her as an “Angel on Earth” that always demonstrated a great example of a mother and friend.
Those left to cherish her memory include her life companion and soul mate, Fidel H. Cortes and three loving daughters: Elizabeth Rivas, Maria-Cristal Aguilar and Yesenia Chavez. Along with her 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 7 brothers and sisters.
She will forever be missed, but never forgotten.


María del Refugio Cortés vivía en Exeter, Ca. y originaria de Tepatitlán, Jalisco, Mx. descanso en paz el jueves por la mañana rodeada por su familia querida.
Con mucho cariño fue conocida como “Cuca”. Ella nació el 19 de febrero del año 1953 en Fátima, un pueblito cercano de Tepatitlán, Jalisco, Mx. de padres: Amelia y Vicente Galindo.
Siempre será recordada por su hermosa sonrisa y alma, corazón bondadoso y espíritu de guerrera.
María era una esposa amorosa, madre, abuela, hermana, y amiga. Su familia y amigos siempre la describirían como un “Ángel caído del cielo”, que siempre ha demostrado un buen ejemplo de madre, amiga y mujer.
Los que se quedaron para apreciar su memoria incluye a su compañero de la vida y alma gemela, Fidel H. Cortes y 3 hijas queridas: Elizabeth Rivas, María-Cristal Aguilar y Yesenia Chávez. Incluso, sus 6 nietos, 3 bisnietos, 7 hermanos y hermanas.
Siempre será extrañada pero nunca olvidada.

Our Tia Cuca is one of the nicest, sweetest human beings I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She always gave a welcoming feeling, no matter where we saw her and always greeted us with a motherly hug. She really was an angel on earth. I don't think I will ever meet another person as humble, sweet and kind as her heart was.
