Obituary:
Beloved mother, grandmother, daughter and friend, Victoria Ann Ashbrook, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 20, surrounded by her children. Born in Portland Oregon, the daughter of John Louis and Alberta Edna Beima, Victoria moved to Glendale for her senior year of high school and on to Arcata for the start of college at Humboldt State University. There she met her husband Roy Ashbrook, who preceded her in death in 2002. They raised a family, moving up and down the Pacific Northwest, before settling in Exeter in the early 1980’s. Victoria finished her college degree at Fresno State University and began a long and fulfilling career as a teacher and administrator in Woodlake. She loved the children of Woodlake and cheered their successes long after they left her classroom. Victoria also taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was active in various roles at Good Shepherd in Reedley, St. Paul’s in Visalia and St. Clement’s in Woodlake. An accomplished artist, she sewed, quilted and painted. She made everything from swimsuits in the 1970’s to American Doll clothes in the 2000’s, including a lovely king sized quilt last year. She enjoyed her many years in the same book club and enjoyed working in her beautiful garden. She adored all of her grandchildren, reading, playing and crafting with each of them. She proudly attended her namesake granddaughter’s college graduation last June. She is survived by her daughter Alberta Louise Ashbrook and husband, Philip Ankel, her son Roy Matthew Ashbrook and her son Mark Fletcher Ashbrook and wife Molly Richards and grandchildren Victoria, Royce and Adam Ankel, Drew and Ames Ashbrook, and Noa and Mila Ashbrook.
