Obituary:
Tammi (Bodine) Kemp

Tammi received her angel wings from heaven above on July 12, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. Tammi was born on July 13, 1959 to Robert and Anit Bodine in Porterville, California. She attended St. Anne’s Elementary in Porterville before later moving to Exeter. There she attended Lincoln Elementary School and Wilson Jr, High. She graduated from Exeter Union High school in 1977. While in High School she was very involved in FFA and agricultural. Upon graduation she continued her education first at College of the Sequoia, and later graduated form Yuba College with a A.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education. Tammi’s passion was working with small children having worked at several day care centers and later as an Instruction Aide with both Woodland Unified School District and Visalia Unified.

Tammi met and married the love of her life, Phil, and they were blessed with two boys who were the light of her life. She lived each day for them and enjoyed being a part of their lives from sports to band to academics. There is nothing she would not do for them. She enjoyed taking them everywhere she went and would not leave them at home. They experienced the like of Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Merriots, Catalia, not to mention numerous beaches and mountains.

While her boys grew into men and went out on their own, she was later blessed with the second and probably most precious gift, her grandsons Brendan and Davin. They were constantly at Grandma’s and always knew the pantry and fridge would be stocked with goodies for them. She had no greater love than her grandkids. She loved having them visit at her and Phil’s cabin in Shaver Lake where they sledded and snowboarded in the winter and fished and swam in the summer.

In her later life, she and Phil spent numerous hours at their cabin at Shaver. She had an enormous love of the mountains which she always insisted she inherited form her Dad. She loved walking through the woods and sitting by a crackling fire in the evening sipping hot apple cider.

Tammi is survived by her husband of 46 years Phil, Her son Jeremy and his wife Jennifer, her son Joshua, and her two adoring grandkids Brendan and Davin. And of course, her puppy, Bayou.

The entire family would like to thank Dr. Joanne Galindo and Dr. William Holvick of Holvick Family Health Center, Dr. Matthew Beutner of UCSF/CRMC Pulmonary Ceneter, and the nurses, doctors and staff at Kaweah Health who cared for Tammi during numerous stays, especially those on 3 West and in the ICU.

Remembrances to Tammi can be made in Tammi’s name to any local animal shelter or animal rescue center.
