Obituary:
Paul Edward Wallen of Exeter, California passed away at the age of 74 years in Irwin, Idaho. Born on July 19, 1950, in Tulare, California, to Claude and Wilda Wallen, Paul was the youngest of ten siblings. He spent his childhood growing up and working on a ranch with his family. They eventually bought a home in Visalia where Paul attended Redwood High School and graduated in 1969. After graduation Paul started working at Youngs Supermarket. On December 26, 1977, Paul married Carolyn Lancaster. Together they established a home in Visalia where they raised their 5 children Liz, Jack, Jason, Chad, and Jennifer. Paul loved spending time with his family, taking many vacations in the mountains where they would camp, fish, chop wood for the winter, and enjoy target shooting. He also enjoyed time in the pool with the family where his fun and competitive nature would come out playing volleyball, basketball, and even a little wrestling fun. In 1987, Paul began working as the store manager of R-N market in Visalia, and in 1989 he and Carol bought a home on 5 acres in Exeter, CA. This property allowed them to host many family gatherings. Paul and Carol raised horses, steers, pigs, chickens, and more. Over the years they enjoyed teaching their kids and grandchildren how to ride horses and care for the animals. In 2004, after 17 years Paul left R-N market when he and Carol purchased a landscape business that they operated from their home in Exeter. They retired in 2018. Over the last several years Paul and Carol spent time in Idaho and California. In September of 2024 Paul was diagnosed with cancer. He spent the last few months seeking treatment in Idaho until he passed. Paul is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Wilda Wallen, Brothers Jimmy, Coy, Randy, and Truman Wallen, sister Bell Taylor, and his first born grandson Robert Lea. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Carol Wallen, sons Jack Hill, Jason Cox, and Chad Wallen, daughters Liz Lancaster and Jennifer Silveira, 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren with two more on the way, Sisters Vetreal White, Peggy Murrell, Ruby Pierotte, and Linda White, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Thank you to all who have reached out with heartfelt condolences to the family.
