Obituary:
Alfredo Aguilar Cervantes was born in Mexico. At a young age he came to the United States where he worked as a farm laborer and eventually met his wife Leticia Reynoso who he was married to for 40 + years and shared 3 children Evangelina, Alfredo Jr. and Manuel. Alfredo Sr. did everything for his family. He even quit drinking and made sure his family was a priority, because they meant the world to him. In 1992 Alfredo and his wife and at the time two children moved to Exeter where they decided to stay and raise their children as he began working for the Browers and welcomed Manuel.
Alfredo (dad) was the type of man who would go above and beyond to help a family member and a friend out. He was the person that would give you his food if he saw you hungry, give you his shirt if he saw you cold but most of all was the first one to arrive and the last one to leave. His boss, John, would always rely on Alfredo and knew he was the guy to go to. Alfredo was very supportive not just financially but he was the person some of us were scared to go up to him and tell him what was going on because of his reaction you could never tell with his poker face.
Alfredo, even though he did not look like it he loved to joke and play around. He was the master of imitators. His children will miss the stories he would tell of him growing up back in Tendeparacua, Michoacan. One that will always stand out was when him and his close friends went and stole Tunas from the cactus by his godfather’s house and his godfather according to Alfredo “ratted him out”. So, eventually papa Baldomero called him over so they can talk about it. Well Alfredo knew what talk meant, usually a spanking. So, Alfredo simply said, “no because you’re going to hit me”, and took off running. So later that evening he got home and papa Baldomero sure gave him a spanking and as he said it, “that was the only time he spanked me and the last time because he just gave us that look”. Alfredo joked around a lot with his children especially him son Manuel. Manuel would love to go up to him and start off by calling him his viejitos (by old man) and then they would get into joking around about going out and dancing with the ladies.
At the age of 62 Alfredo became a grandfather, something he was not expecting. They say that grandparents love the grandchildren more than their own kids. Surely, he showed it; in August of 2019 Alfredo met Grace Casas. When he laid eyes on that 5lbs baby we all knew he was wrapped around her finger. When she came home, he had retired to make sure his grandchild got the premium care and even went above and beyond to get her goat milk to make sure she did not go back to Valley Children’s Hospital. He became fun Tata (grandpa) he would go for walks with Grace. Then, in January of 2022 he became a Tata for the second time and met Heidi Casas or as he called her Luisa because she reminded him of his brother Luis. He loved to dance, play, and most of all keep both his granddaughters happy.
Alfredo lost his battle to prostate cancer and leaves behind an older brother Luis Aguilar, a sister Salud Aguilar, a brother Manuel Aguilar, and a brother Daniel Aguilar. He also leaves a daughter Evangelina Aguilar – Casas (Macario Casas- Son in Law), a son Alfredo Aguilar Jr., a son Manuel Aguilar, granddaughters Grace and Heidi Casas.
We all know he is now in a better place dancing with mom and for sure showed all of us that not all heroes wear capes.
