A celebration of life will be held at St. Anthony’s Retreat in Three Rivers on Sunday, March 2nd at 12 noon.

Obituary:
Gary Robert White, also known as Whiteman, was born in Monrovia, CA, on November 24, 1939 to his parents, Loyal and Cleo White. He was raised in his grandfather’s restaurant in Monrovia called My Old Kentucky Home, baking biscuits and pies by the age of 9. Gary came to Three Rivers in 1966 with hopes of being a ski bum in Mineral King Valley. He opened The White Horse Inn in May of that year. In 1978, he had the distinct honor of marrying the love of his life, Jeanne. Gary and Jeanne were blessed with 2 daughters, Kristin and Cassie.
Together, they ran The White Horse Inn restaurant until closing it in 1998 to continue with catering weddings and special events. He was ordained as a minister in 1989, which allowed him the pleasure of uniting countless couples in marriage. Never one to slow down, within minutes of each ceremony he was clad in his chef coat to cook tri tip, invite guests to the buffet and then cut the wedding cake. At the end of each night, you could always find him in his favorite chair with a glass of chardonnay by the BBQ.
Gary enjoyed life to the fullest in so many ways. He and Jeanne have traveled the world on boats, skied in multiple countries, and loved tropical vacations. He loved to spend time at Shaver Lake with family and friends, skiing in the winter and putzing around the lake in the summer.
Gary passed away on February 10, 2025, at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, his daughters Kristin and Cassie, and their families, including Kristin’s husband, Josh, and their two children Garrett and Greta, and Cassie’s husband, Ramon, and their two children Ella and Andre.
