Obituary:
Salvador Galvez, known affectionately by everyone as “Sal” from Sal’s Shoe Shine, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 71. He was a man whose smile was as bright as the boots he polished and whose charm could light up any room.
A Life of Faith and Service. Born in Zacatecas, Mexico, Salvador was baptized at a very young age, beginning a life long journey of faith that guided him until his final day. He was a devoted member of the Exeter Apostolic Church, where he loved to worship and spend time in fellowship. Salvador eventually made his home where his heart was: among the community he served. For his entire life, he was a pillar of the local community as the face of Sal’s Shoe Shine. To the many people who knew him, he was far more than a tradesman; he was a friend, and a daily source of joy.
The Heart of the Family
Salvador is now reunited with his beloved wife Lupe Galvez, and his daughter, Elizabeth Hernandez who preceded him in death. His spirit lives on through his children: Anna Saldana and David Galvez. He was a proud grandfather to Krystal Saldana, Cynthia Saldana, Victoria Galvez, Anthony Hernandez, Brianna Butler, David Galvez Jr., Kylani Galvez, and Zechariah Galvez. His joy multiplied with his great-grandchildren: Kai Hernandez, Ethan Hernandez, Aubree Butler, and Maverick Butler. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and the entire community who walked a little taller because of him.
A Final Parting Thought
Salvador always knew how to leave people smiling. We will forever cherish the memory of him playfully singing his favorite rhythm to his great-grandchildren, a song that never failed to bring out their giggles: “Ten little monkeys jumping on the bed…”
