Obituary:
Sharon Moran, a Visalia native and long-time resident, passed away at her home in Visalia on January 1, 2026.
Sharon was born and raised in Visalia, California, the daughter of Avery and Marilyn Thompson and sister of Pamela Ann (Thompson) Loop. She attended Conyer Elementary School, Divisadero Middle School, and eventually graduated from Mount Whitney High School in 1962. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree and teaching credential from California State University, Bakersfield, she served as a teacher in Tulare County, until her retirement in 2005. After retirement, she took up watercolor painting and became very active in the Visalia arts community, including the Visalia Art League, Arts Visalia, and the Tulare Palette Club. She became a prolific watercolor artist, producing and displaying her beautiful art pieces at local art galleries over the past several years.
Sharon is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa (Moran) and Jeff Pallesen of Carmichael, California, and Sarah (Moran) and Tad Allred of Sacramento, California; her four grandsons, Andrew Pallesen, Jack Pallesen, Peter Allred, and Jon Allred; her ex-husband and lifelong friend, Jimmie Moran; and her sister, Pamela Ann (Thompson) Loop, of Ritzville, Washington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Avery and Marilyn (White) Thompson, and her four grandparents Albert and Vinnie (Harsh) White and Jesse and Minnie (Barber) Thompson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins of the extended White and Thompson families.
Sharon was the embodiment of love and acceptance and was dearly beloved by her family and friends. She was a beautiful soul and the purest of hearts bringing so much love into this world. We are filled with gratitude for having had her in our lives. We miss her deeply and will forever cherish the memories of our time with her.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating in her memory to the Visalia art community that she so dearly loved. Donations made in her name at this link will be divided among the Visalia Art League, Arts Visalia, and the Tulare Palette Club.
