Obituary:
Flo Johnston, born June 13th, 1942, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Known affectionately as Nana or Auntie Flo, she lived a life devoted to God, family, and community. She was born in Los Angeles, CA to Edward and Virginia Watts. The first born , of three, to that Union. She attended Venice School in her early years before graduating from Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, CA in 1959. She met Richard Johnston in the San Fernando Valley and married soon after. She and Rick moved to the Visalia area about 1968 and started their family there. For 41 wonderful years, Flo was the beloved wife of Rick Johnston. She was the loving mother of 6 children and the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, her sweet 16 as she called them. Flo was a true child of God, whose faith guided her generous spirit. She cared for everyone she met, by opening her home to multiple families and individuals for as long as was needed, where the family ranch was famously open to all. Her legacy is one of unwavering love, boundless hospitality, and faith. Hospitality was her love language. You could find Flo at church extra early to prepare and serve the coffee, running the snack bar at the Exeter swimming pool, and her favorite of all…feeding her large family at her favorite place, her home at The Ranch. She was happiest when her kids, and now her grandkids, were running amuck in the orchard and her girls were inside with her having coffee and preparing a meal for all to gather. Flo’s faith was a ministry to everyone she knew. She is the reason many people came to know and love Jesus. Her love was patient and when someone was in need of council, she had a scripture just for you. She was devoted to God’s word and her life reflected it. She covered her family and all she loved in prayer. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Virginia Watts, and her husband, Rick Johnston. She is survived by her brothers, Jim and Tom Watts, her children, Rick and Kelli Johnston, Erin and Ryan Klang, Rodney and Cui Johnston, Roland and Olivia Johnston, Reid and Taylor Johnston, and Tracy Selge, her grandchildren, Belle, Lucie, Andie, Daphne, Will, Dane, Whitley, Nate, Rowen, Pierre, Joni, Jace, Andrew, Barrett, Noah, and Logan.
