Joyce Dianne McKinney-Cortinas - age: 78
(February 08, 1948 to May 05, 2026 ) Resident of San Jose, California Visitation Information: Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Exeter District Cemetery. Obituary: Joyce Dianne Cortinas, known as “Dianne,” passed away on May 5, 2026. She was born in Exeter, California, to Jesse Jennings Phillips and Patricia “Patsy” Ruth Phillips (Clegg). She grew up in Farmersville, California, where she grew up surrounded by a close-knit extended family. Dianne graduated from Exeter High School and married Michael Edward McKinney at age 17. After his enlistment in the United States Air Force and deployment to Vietnam, they welcomed their daughter, Michaele, in 1972. The couple later divorced, and Dianne moved to San Jose, California, where she raised her daughter as a devoted single mother. She later experienced the loss of her sister, Connie Jean Phillips, at a young age, a loss that remained with her throughout her life. Dianne built a strong and successful career in Silicon Valley, working for Sound Technology and later Hewlett-Packard, where she spent many years before retiring. In 1981, she married Bob Schroder Cortinas. In 1982, they welcomed their daughter, Patricia Norma Cortinas and created a beautiful life together, married and devoted until her death. She spent time in their home, doing home improvements, gardening, planting flowers and enjoying peace and escape from the world. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Jennings Phillips and Patricia “Patsy” Ruth Phillips; her sister, Connie Jean Phillips; and her grandson, Derrick Jennings McBride-McKinney. She is survived by her Husband Bob Cortinas, daughters, Michaele Diane McKinney and Patricia Norma Cortinas; her grandchildren, Amber Lynne Stallings-McKinney, Jessica Rebecca Higuera, Eric Cortinas, and Campbell Grace Walton; and her great-grandchildren, Grace Michaele Higuera-Meling and Georgia June Higuera-Robinson. Her strength will live on through all of us.
