Obituary:
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Quoetta Mae Mays Gaither announces her passing on July 21, 2026, at the age of 81. Quoetta passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. Quoetta Mae was born on September 12, 1944, in Portland, Oregon, former resident of Ivanhoe, California, to Ruby and Orville Mays. Quoetta married Charles Gaither on May 7, 1971 in Torrance, CA. They were married for 44 years until Charles’ passing in 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Orville; her sisters, Kaye Gaither, and Mary Louise Wright; her brother, Dewey Mays; her beloved husband, Charles Gaither; her son, Ricky Roberts; her nephew, Peanut Gaither, her nephew Bobby Lee and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law. Quoetta is survived by her daughters, Lila (Joe) and their children Joseph, Michael, David, and Becca; Tina (Justin) and their children Kenneth, Ashlie, Thomas, and Reyanne; her son, Charles "Chucky" (Stacie) and their children Charles “Chopper”, Jeremiah, and Jonathan; her stepdaughter, Sandi (Mitch) and their children Myles and Harrow; 10 great-grandchildren; and 22 nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Quoetta will be remembered for her spirited personality, her sassy sense of humor, and, above all, the deep love she had for her family. She found joy in being surrounded by those she loved, and her warmth, strength, and unforgettable spirit. Though she is no longer with us, Quoetta's love, laughter, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
