A memorial service to celebrate Walter's life will be held at the Evans Miller Guinn Chapel in Exeter, on December 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
A reception will follow at Walter's home in Exeter.
Obituary:
Walter Dee Wilson III passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012, in Exeter, CA at the age of 64. Walter was born on July 21, 1948 to Walter Dee Wilson Jr. and Lura Bernadine Harper and was raised in Lindsay, CA. Walter graduated from Lindsay High School, class of 1967, and attended College of the Sequoias in Visalia. Walter was married to Joycelyn Botkin on August 14, 1971, and made Exeter his home for the remainder of his life. Walter lost his beloved wife of 30 years in 2002.
Walter worked in the fresh fruit packing and warehousing industries, with many years spent as the manager of Exeter Fruit Association. He was proud of the local area's rich farming history and his involvement. Walter also spent time as a volunteer fireman for the city of Exeter. Walter loved the outdoors and found true peace in the Sierra Mountains, where he grew up fishing and camping. He shared this passion with his sons on many adventurous backpacking and camping trips. In recent years, Walter spent much of his time traveling the United States, from the beaches of Miami to the glaciers in Alaska.
Those who knew Walter will remember his quiet sincerity, quick smile, devotion to work, quirky since of humor and deep love for his family and friends.
Walter is survived by his son Dee and daughter in-law Vicki of San Diego; son Scott who is currently stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas; grandchildren Jonathan and Elizabeth; and sister Judy Joslin of Salem, Oregon. Walter also considered himself fortunate for his lifelong and close friends whom he considered his family.
