Obituary:
God called home His Ambassador, Betty Coffelt on July 28, 2014. She was born in the Woodlake Hospital on January 21, 1948 and passed away in the house she was raised in, one block from the hospital.
She attended Woodlake schools, graduating from Woodlake High School in 1966. She attended College of the Sequoias where she received an accounting degree. She worked for Security Title Company in Visalia for a few years but the majority of her adult life was spent as a stay at home housewife, mother and grandma.
She married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Coffelt on June 20, 1970. After he went back into the Army in 1972 she followed him everywhere the Military would let her and the children go for the next twenty years. They spent two tours in Germany, as well as being stationed in Fort Ord, CA; Fort Lewis, Washington and Fort Hood, Texas.
She was actively involved in her church, First Baptist of Three Rivers, where she chaired the Finance Committee and performed numerous other tasks needed in the church. She was in the inaugural Master Garden of Tulare County Class and served with them for a number of years. As a Master Gardner she gave talks to various gardening groups throughout Tulare and Kings Counties as well as writing articles for the Visalia Times Delta that seemed to also find their way into other publications around the County. She also sang in the “Gift to Woodlake” for a few years. Betty is preceded in death by her father and mother, Troy and Edna McGee and a brother Donald.
Betty is survived by her husband, Stan; one son Jeff of Folsom; one daughter Alicia Christian (husband Beau) of Riverside and 5 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister JoAnn Jackson (husband Earl) of Hanford as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
