A Celebration of Joel’s Life will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Neighborhood Church, 5505 West Riggins Road in Visalia. Burial will be in the Visalia Public Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Open Arms, P.O. Box 6605, Chula Vista, CA 91909 or www.openarmsmexico.org/donate. A trust fund will also be set up for the Hedlund Boys.

Obituary:
Joel was born to Earl and Alice (Grusing) Hedlund on January 20, 1971 in Rushville, NB. He passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2014 surrounded by his family at the age of 43. Joel has been in some type of ministry all of his life. He will be remembered for being on the ground floor of Elevate in Visalia and Orange Valley Church in Exeter, as well as many other local churches. Joel married the former Codie Kidman in Sutter Creek, CA on June 4, 1999 and made their home in Visalia since. He loved his family and had a special love for “All Things Apple.” Some of his other loves include many sports, photography and sunsets. While living a short time in Hawaii, he had to be at the beach every night to enjoy the sun set. He also started a Video Ministry that he would tinker with. Joel is preceded in death by his father, Earl William Hedlund on November 11, 2013.
Joel is survived by his wife Codie of Visalia; two sons Jonah and Jackson both of Visalia; his mother Alice Hedlund of Diamond City AR; one brother Jon Hedlund of McHenry IL; three sisters Mary Lou (Bill) Porter of The Dells OR, Esther (Shawn) Lowery of Pocola OK and Lois (Nagieb) Labeb of Cairo Egypt; his father and mother in law Richard and Melanie Kidman of Pine Grove CA; sister and brother in law Tiffanie and Brian Allen of Norco, CA. Joel is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with numerous good friends.
