Obituary:
Marketa Jeanette Todd passed away in Fresno California at the home of her daughter after an 18 month courageous battle with cancer at the age of 74 years old. Marketa graduated from Lindsay High School in 1959, however she also attended Redwood and Mt. Whitney High Schools prior to her graduation. She was born to George & Laurina Williams-Herian of Visalia and was raised by her wonderful foster parents William & Lyndall Leigh of Lindsay, California all of whom preceded her in death. Marketa held a variety of jobs throughout the years, however, her passion was art, and she was a very talented commercial artist and painted signs and banners for primarily bowling alleys throughout California. She was a very gifted woman. Marketa was a truly loving woman who leaves behind many extended family members and friends. Her smile and love for life were both refreshing and contagious. She was truly a loyal family member and friend and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to meet her. She will truly be missed by all.
Marketa is preceded in death by the love of her life, Larry Todd who passed away in 2011. The two were married 50 years. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Leigh of Lindsay and her nephew, Brian Todd of Stockton. Marketa is survived by her two daughters, Jana Todd of Fresno and Karen Lopez of Visalia. Marketa also has three grandchildren whom she dearly loved and helped raise, Haley and Zachery Ruffner and Wesley Lopez. She is also survived by her two nieces, Kim Leigh of Visalia and Lee Ann Faria of San Jose.
The family was blessed to have the assistance of Hinds Hospice of Fresno in providing the care that Marketa needed and encourage that donations be made in her name in lieu of flowers to continue to offer other cancer patients the loving care and support needed so that they may also remain home with family. Marketa’s family wants to thank all of you who knew her for your loving care and friendship she was fortunate to receive throughout the years. The family also wants to thank all of the extended and chosen family members who helped to provide support and care for her throughout her illness as without your help she would not have been able to remain at her daughter’s home, which as very important to her and her family.
